Averager

Overview

An averager calculates the average value for a moving window on a given signal, see e.g., [Orfanidis1996].

Details

The parametrization of the averager consists in specifying the window length in seconds.
The window length specifies the length of the moving window used to calculate the average values. The lager the window, the smoother is the filtered signal. But too large windows do not only remove noise from the signal, they also remove higher frequencies. Usually higher frequencies are no noise and contain respiratory information.

Moving window length
Independent of the concrete name in the application context the length of the moving window is displayed in seconds (minimal window size is the duration of one sample interval).
